Bulkpowders has added to its Vegan Series range this week, with a Double Chocolate Protein Vegan Brownie!
This deliciously dense looking treat appears to be the first Vegan Brownie to hit the sports nutrition market.
I've tried this brownie myself, and i'll give you my opinion later, but first, the facts:
60g Brownie
227 calories
15g protein
25g carbs (11g sugar)
7g fat
The protein mainly comes from pea protein, but the usually off-putting taste of vegan protein is counteracted by the use of brown sugar, and oat and date syrups.
Most protein treats are low sugar, and can taste very artificial, and vegan protein treats especially, can end up tasting like actual dirt. With this vegan rownie though, Bulkpowders have decided to use actual sugar instead of a boat-load of artificial sweeteners, which might put some people off, but will appeal to a slightly different branch of customers who like the idea of protein bars, but don't usually like the taste.
Bulkpowders are so proud of this brownie, they even go on to say that it is "not only good compared to other Protein Brownies on the market, but also compared to other chocolate brownies on the market."
That's a pretty big statement, but after trying a few of these, I can honestly tell you that this little 60g brownie is genuinely fantastic. No joke, in a blind taste test, you would never guess this was a vegan product.
It's just dense enough, and has spot on brownie texture to it, and the double chocolatey-ness is just... *Italian hand gesture of perfection.
This might sound like high praise, but if you're a regular protein bar consumer, you'll know that despite tasting nice, a protein bar just never tastes as good as an actual chocolate bar. I think Bulkpowders have done something truly ground-breaking with this brownie.
