The Danish sports nutrition brand Bodylab have released a new protein powder called CLEAR WHEY. Essentially the same as MyProtein's Clear Whey from last year, the product is a new twist on the standard protein shake.
What does it offer compared to normal protein shakes you ask? Well, the main purpose of these clear protein shakes is to allow a whole new array of flavours. Since normal protein shakes are basically powdered milk, they are naturally quite creamy, which is nice when you have a chocolate flavour shake, but could you imagine an orange and mango flavour shake at room temperature and creamy? errr... no thanks.
There are a huge list of fruity and juicy flavours that you just can't have as traditional protein shakes, but 'Clear Whey' allows brands to start experimenting.
MyProtein, aswell as a few other brands, and now Bodylab, have begun with flavours such as;
Orange & Mango, Lemon, Peach, Mojito, Rainbow Candy (WTF is this), Lemon Cola, and Raspberry.
Nutritionally, compared to normal protein shakes, these clear whey shakes are on par when it comes to protein content, and they actually have less carbs and fats. Not sure why, but probably something to do with the extra hydro-micro-filterisation, or whatever it is they do to make it less creamy and clear.
I dunno about you, but after consuming 436 slightly different varieties of chocolate flavour protein shakes, I think I'm ready for some fruity-ness post workout.
Prepare to see a few more brands release similar products in the next month or two, since these fruity juicy flavours will go down especially well during the hot summer months, assuming we're all allowed out of our house by then....
