Since gyms have closed and we have all turned into hermits, social media has been flooded with home workouts, some good, some bad, and some completely bonkers.
If you want something abit different and fun compared to your usual home workout, and scalable to any level, the 52 card workout could be what you've been searching your whole life for, or maybe just the last week, or not but now you're curious. Either way, let's get into it.
Firstly, kinda goes without saying, but go get a deck of playing cards.
The way this works, is you assign an exercise to each of the 4 suits, and the number on the card represents the number of reps you need to do. For example, if you assign Push Ups to the suit Hearts, and you turn over a 8 of Hearts, you do 8 Push Ups. Simples!
You can also set different exercises for Aces and face cards if you want more variety, which I'd recommend.
You have to work you way through all 52 cards, with NO REST at all, except the time it takes to go over and turn the next card... but don't be lazy!
I'll give you my usual versions:
HEARTS - push ups
DIAMONDS - sit ups
CLUBS - squats
SPADES - pull ups / rows
JACKS - jumping jacks x20
QUEENS - 30 sec wall sit
KINGS - tricep dips x10
ACES - burpees x5
or
HEARTS - push ups
DIAMONDS - tricep dips
CLUBS - bicep curls
SPADES - squats
JACKS - shoulder raises x10
QUEENS - sit ups x10
KINGS - dead lifts x10
ACES - pull ups x10
You can change any of the exercises depending on your preference and access to equipment, and adjust the reps/time on the Aces and face cards if preferred, this workout is your oyster... eww, gross, no, that doesn't work here.
Stay active my fellow Crabs!
